Beauty + Video: Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, Eye Makeup for Glasses

Hello my loves! Today’s feature will be on the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette. My sister who lives in Denmark sent me this as a gift recently and obviously, I was way too thrilled when I got it.

I just want to share this quick review of the palette before moving on to a video tutorial at the end of this post on how I use this palette to make my eyes look bigger – especially when I’m wearing my glasses. 🙂 I’m nearsighted, just in case you’re wondering and lenses for my eyes, often make them look smaller.

This is my first Too Faced Chocolate palette. I know – how in the world was I able to resist the first two, right? I guess it’s because I’m more of a lipstick collector and I felt that I always have more than enough eye shadows.

Of course, after going down the beauty blogging rabbit hole, that way of thinking has now gone out the window and I find myself struggling harder to resist palettes.

Oh, and before I move on into the review, I just wanted to share with you guys that you can now get your favourite Too Faced Products via Sephora online! 😉 It’s great to have an online option, especially if you’re having a lazy day and you just want to do your shopping on your couch while you have a face mask on.

Packaging

I love the sturdy, metal case of this palette. It’s great for traveling since I know the eyeshadows inside will be perfectly safe. The case is a soft pink and the lettering comes in gold and white and most of the shadows come in heart-shaped pans. Girly? Definitely.

Normally, I would go for classic or sleek packaging for makeup (except Sailor Moon makeup!) and girly-looking products usually have me thinking that they’re too kiddish for my taste but this palette has so many other great qualities that actually helped me overlook the cutesy-ness of it all.

Beauty: MAC Dark Side Lipstick (Holiday 2015 Magic of the Night) Review + Swatches

I know, I know. I said I’ll post some things up that aren’t about beauty. But when I checked my beauty backlog, it was horrendously long and I knew I just had to do something about it. By that, I mean start posting the reviews.

I’m having a hard time writing and editing some posts that will go into the ‘Diplomatic Incidents’ category of this blog recently. You know how delicate some of the topics might be. But I’ll get to that soon. I promise. Right now, I’m having a bit of trouble with writer’s block.

So to cure that, I’m going for something lighter – a beauty post.

So I guess it’s no news by now how I was so giddy a couple of weeks ago over MAC’s Holiday collection for this year. They’ve got tons of beautiful pieces in the collection – from the Oh, Darling highlighter to a limited edition lipstick shade called Evening Rendezvous.

I usually go for the limited edition shades when new collections pop up. So of course, some friends were expecting that I’ll get Evening Rendezvous since it was the only limited edition shade while the rest of the lipsticks were permanent but instead, I went for Dark Side – a shade I always wanted but always forget to get.

I guess it has something to do with my excitement for Star Wars: The Force Awakens or maybe just my never ending love for dark, bold, daring lips. Or maybe it’s the pretty packaging that makes the wait for me to get this shade worth it… Lots of reasons. If you’re new to the blog, you should know that even though I do love makeup, I often get told that I’m smart with my purchases. I do over think most of them, to be honest.

Also, I tried on Evening Rendezvous and took it for a walk around the mall before deciding. It’s a pretty colour but it fades so easily and not in a nice way. It only left a bit of colour on the outline of my lips making it look like I just decided to wear lipliner today and skipped the lipstick. What is this? The 80s?!

So there. Now that I have justified this purchase to my over thinking self, let’s move on to the review.

Events + Photos: KL Vintage Festival 2014

Last Sunday, Malaysia celebrated Hari Merdeka (Independence/Freedom day) which commemorates the independence of the Federation of Malaya from British colonial rule. The holiday was extended to Monday, September first, and since my husband had to make a quick nip (ok, not that quick – he was there from 8:30am until almost 4pm) to the embassy because the whole team as well as our Ambassador needed to rush a few things for our President, I was able to get most of my chores out of the way before he got home and we decided to check out the Kuala Lumpur Vintage Festival.

We left the condo at around 4pm and took the Monorail to the Maharajalela station which was basically connected to Stadium Merdeka – the festival’s choice of venue.

Upon entry to the stadium are walls filled with photographs of the Malaysians’ heroes and revered leaders.
