I have to admit that I’ve become quite bored with a lot of blogging events and found myself not in the mood to attend. Mainly because I’m quite busy with so many things and when I find myself having free time, my lazy butt just refused to leave the comforts of our home. If it’s not something that would really pique my interest, I’ve been saying no.
Mamonde coming to Malaysia is something that fell into the category that piques my interest so off I went to Damansara on a weekend which is usually reserved for errands and dates with the husband. “It will only last for 2-3 hours, I promise!” was what I told Alvin that day.
I’m glad I went as I wasn’t disappointed. The event was well-thought off and the products got me really excited! But first, the basics!
Is it just another Korean Beauty Brand?
Mamonde (French word for ‘My World’) is yes, a Korean beauty brand. It’s also under Amore Pacific, Korea’s biggest cosmetics company that also owns Sulwhasoo, Laneige, and Innisfree among others. But what sets Mamonde apart is its use of flowers as the (only) key ingredients for its comprehensive skin care range. They also have makeup but we’ll get to that later.
Amore Pacific’s Research Institute experimented on flowers has been extracting nourishing ingredients that are good for our skin and bottling them up into products. Thus, the brand’s tagline – Inspired by flowers.
Shall we move on to the exciting bit? The products you should check out when they come to Malaysia? 😉
Want more radiant skin?
Honeysuckle are dainty flowers that also has skin-revitalising properties that made them the perfect source of ingredients for two of Mamonde’s best sellers. The First Energy Essence and Serum (yellow-orange bottles on left hand side) contain Honeysuckle Flower Vinegar Complex that make for a more radiant complexion. It smells sweet and not at all vinegar-y. Don’t worry. I sniffed. 😉
These products are used after your cleanser and toner. If you have combination or oily skin, go for the water-type essence and for those with dry skin, opt for the serum.
The answer to this humidity!
This range is one of Mamonde’s most popular in South Korea but the star of the show is none other than the Rose Water Soothing Gel. It won’t just moisturise your skin, it will leave it cool and refreshed as well. Perfect for the horrible humidity we’re experiencing these days. It really has gotten worse here in the tropics, hasn’t it?!
I tried this product out on my hand during the event and I loved it. The rose scent is not overpowering too which is always a huge plus.
A flower for every concern
Mamonde also has a couple more skin care lines for every skin concern. There’s the Lotus range for exfoliation and anti-oxidant protection, the Camelia range for anti-ageing (smells divine too, btw!), and Narcissus for hydration. I fell in love with their Hydrating Face Mist during the event. It’s got a really fine mist and it smells ah-mazing! Yes, it’s got a hint of narcissus in there but it’s more of a clean, refreshing scent.
The Camelia line also smells like heaven. It’s Camelia after all. Wait. In fact, every product I smelled that day, appealed to me. To think I don’t go for floral scents most of the time. I find it too sweet. But their products all smell refreshing and clean with the sweetness of the flower scent under control, thank goodness.
They also use Magnolia for its medicinal properties, Heartleaf Hottuynia and Sage for oil control, and some Evening Primrose to go with the Honeysuckle’s revitalising properties.
They got everything covered
Mamonde also carries sunscreen, hand creams, face masks, and even an interesting pore cleaner that comes in the form of a tiny deostick. It looks pretty convenient for traveling.
Did I mention they also have Makeup?
Oh yes, they do and the range is pretty good. You get products that are enough for a full face… and more.
Cover Powder Cushion
Of course, they have this in their arsenal. It’s a Korean brand after all. Long story short: I’m in love. It’s a close second to my Laneige BB Cushion Pore Control. Really, really close. It’s also the reason why I have completely ignored my IOPE Air Cushion XP.
It’s got decent, buildable coverage and a brightening effect that lasts the whole day on my skin! It also comes with a refill like most cushions so – yay!
The usual suspects
Of course, there’s also the lip products – lip crayons and lipsticks. They gave me a lip crayon to bring home and try but I must admit that I haven’t gotten around to doing so.
The range also carries eyebrow powder sets, eyeshadows, eyeliners, foundations, etc. They also have a Jelly Blusher which is a cream based blush that comes with a bouncy sponge for application.
But they also have something that’s quite unique
The Mamonde Pang Pang Hair Shadow is something that caught my eye instantly. It’s a product specifically designed to help someone hide one’s widow’s peak. An upside down U-shaped hairline is usually associated with youth and apparently, a lot of celebrities are going out of their way to make their hairline look perfect as perfect as their winged liners.
Now that’s dedication.
While some people would opt for just using a blending brush and a matte eyeshadow that matches their hair, Mamonde released this product to make the whole process easier. This comes with a sponge which you can use to pat the matte powder on to your hairline. Pretty nifty, no?
Mamonde is set to arrive in August 2016. Their first counter will be inside AEON Bandar Utama. For more details, you can check out their Facebook page by clicking here.
