Marilyn Monroe once said that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. I’m not that shallow but I will have to admit that they are pretty and an un-boring investment to boot. 😉
I was recently invited to the launch of SK Jewellery’s new diamond. Aptly called Allove, what makes this 81-facet rock unique is the perfect pattern of 10 hearts and 10 arrows on it.
I guess it’s my social circle’s age but I keep seeing people who are either getting engaged or married on my feed. Ok, there are lots of babies too but that’s for another post. Aside from posts on children doing the most random things as their parents applaud, I also get to see photos of rings, wedding gowns, and my personal favourite – cake. I love social media. It always gives me happy vibes.
Weddings and engagements are two occasions that are forever tied to giving of jewellery due to… well, tradition. Even my most non-trad friends have been sporting engagement rings in various sizes. (It may be possible I don’t have full-on hipster friends. Thank goodness for that.)
My friends can vouch for me when I say I’m not materialistic but I do find proposals sweet. A guy saving up for a ring he can afford so he can formally ask a girl to be his wife? Somebody hand me a tissue.
If, by chance, you are a guy planning to propose soon and your girlfriend is the picky kind when it comes to jewellery, fret not. The Allove diamond will make sure you don’t get a resounding ‘no’.
This diamond sparkles like a tiny star that was taken from the sky and casted on a ring. Normally, diamonds only have 57 facets while the Allove (as I said earlier) has 81. This eliminates light leakage
Only one out of a thousand rough diamonds is selected to be crafted and there are only a handful of diamond craftsmen who are capable of turning that rough stone into the Allove diamond.
The stone goes through tens of thousands of cuts to become an Allove diamond and each one is given an exclusive mark – a unique code on its waist.
One thing I didn’t see in the Allove diamond’s press kit was whether the stones were conflict free. I’m very particular about this. I even asked my husband whether my engagement ring was conflict free the moment I saw it. See? Particular.
What do I mean by conflict free? When a diamond is conflict free, it means it wasn’t mined in a war zone nor was it used to fund an insurgency. If you’ve seen the movie Blood Diamond, you probably know what I mean.
I asked one of Allove’s diamond experts present at the event about this and he told me that they only get their rough stones from sellers who source them ethically.
